Some boy I knew

Some boy I knew
What would you do if you knew a boy so well?
You knew all of his clothes, each shirt, hoodie and
jeans.
Had your favourites of
these.
You knew each sign and symbol he spoke, he taught you
those.
But when it came to holding you hand he
froze.
Spoke some half-assed riddle of truth and pictures of
smiles.
For you to put in your
files.
Wrote you sonnets,neither stolen nor
borrowed.
But with observation he
followed.
Each of your weaknesses, wrong dribbles, crazy goals in the
snow.
Yeah, you would remember each bastard smile he would
throw.
Those intimate chats in cramped cloakrooms, souls to
soul.
Private jokes, advert songs changed to make us
whole.
Strange looks from wiser eyes, asking for a stronger
connection.
No, the stained windows that you called eyes, kissed my
reflection.
